We remain committed to enabling as many gifted young people as possible to access our provision, and the level of financial support they need to do this is rapidly increasing. If we are to maintain our current levels of both access and provision, and if we are to realise our ambitions for the future of the School, we are increasingly dependent on the commitment and generosity of our donors, all of whom share our belief that the education of the next generation of world-class musicians must be a priority.
The ethos of the School is that any young person offered a place should be able to benefit from this opportunity, irrespective of their family’s financial circumstances. The School offers means-tested bursaries to ensure that those in need of financial support are able to attend. However, whilst the School is fortunate in receiving a level of support, demand for bursary funding is such that, each year, the School is forced to turn away around a quarter of the talented young musicians who apply due to a lack of available funds.
We believe no child should be denied access to a musical education based on ability to pay.
