Internationally famed, multi-award-winning pianist Ioan Dragoș Dimitriu will be leading piano masterclasses with a selection of Purcell students, as well as adjudicating over The Purcell School Concerto Competition.

Born in Brasov in 1991, he made his international debut in 2011 at the Philharmonic Hall in Berlin with the concert number 5 “Imperial” by Beethoven. On December 5, 2018, he sang for the first time with the orchestra at the Vienna Konzerthaus, performing Rhapsody in Blue by Gershwin.

He started studying the piano at the age of 6 with teacher Viorica Burcica and then with teacher Francisca Lupu at the Brasov Art High School. In 2010 he entered the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Vienna where he worked under the guidance of Martin Hughes and later with Stefan Arnold. As a solo pianist or in chamber ensembles, he has won over 25 first prizes in international competitions.
In recent years, Dragoș set out to support artists and good quality art among musicians of his age, thus he founded the Aegeria Artists Management impresario agency in Vienna and the Transylvanian International Piano Competition in Brasov, which brought to Brasov up to now 100 by pianists from all over the world. In 2019, he is co-founder of the TAM TAM Festival in Brasov, together with the pianist Horia Mihail, during which more than 400 artists performed in three days, on the 7 outdoor stages, in more than 100 events. Also, starting with March 2020, the two launched #ScenaVirtualaTAM TAM .
