Welcome to the first Weekly Highlights of 2019! We are pleased to have everyone back at Purcell after a relaxing break and already have great news to share!
2019 YOUNG DRUMMER OF THE YEAR COMPETITION
Seven independent judges have worked their way through the shortlisted 40 to come up with 2019 Final 10 which includes Purcell’s very own Lewis Isaacs! The final will take place on Sunday February 3rd for which we wish Lewis the very best of luck! If you would like to watch Lewis in the final, all tickets are £10 and are available through the Box Office – 01527 577330.
KESWICK MUSIC SOCIETY’S NEW YEAR CONCERT
Three rising young stars of classical music provided the silky sounds of Keswick Music Society’s much awaited New Year concert. One of the talented trio was none other than Purcell alumnae Suling King, who took the audience on a musical journey performing works by composers such as Brahms, Poulenc and Britten.
GOLDEN CLASSICAL MUSIC AWARDS – NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL MUSIC COMPETITION
A huge congratulations to Zara Williams on being awarded First Prize in the Piano category of the Golden Classical Music Awards New York International Music Competition! It is a fantastic achievement and has led to Zara being invited to play at the renowned Carnegie Hall (New York) in March. This incredible venue has played host to the world’s finest artists from Tchaikovsky, Dvořák, Mahler, and Bartók to George Gershwin, Billie Holiday, Benny Goodman, Judy Garland, and The Beatles and we are very excited for Zara to be added to the list!
