On Sunday 5th November, The Purcell School Brass Ensemble directed by Kevin Hathway, performed two fanfares at the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire’s Justice Service at St. Albans Cathedral, to a full congregation of VIPs from the county. The ensemble, comprising Estella Browne (horn), Steffan Dawe (timpani), Christopher Price (tuba), Sam Sigl and Maria Vodovozova (trumpets) and Lucy Patterson (trombone), played Charpentier’ s Prelude and Maynard’s Fanfare.
Will Hobhouse, High Sheriff of Hertfordshire said ‘I’m delighted The Purcell School Brass Ensemble could participate in my Justice Service. In the magnificent setting of the Cathedral, with its wonderful acoustics, the two fanfares they performed were stunning and a fitting start to the processions taking place. I was enormously impressed by the talent on display and would like to thank the students and their conductor, Kevin Hathway, for all their hard work and preparation.’
