Harry Potter and the Musical Mathematicians

Following the Year 7 and 8 trip to ‘The Making of Harry Potter’ at Warner Bros. Studio earlier this year, it was now the turn of our Year 9 Maths students to experience the enchantment of mathematics in the movies. On Tuesday 18th June, the students visited the Warner Bros. Studio for an exciting and educational journey into the world of cinematic magic.

During the trip, the Year 9 students explored the fascinating intersection of mathematics and filmmaking. They participated in interactive workshops that demonstrated how maths is used in the creation of special effects, set designs, and even in the precise timing required for stunt coordination. Highlights of the visit included a behind-the-scenes tour of the studios, where they saw firsthand how mathematical concepts are integral to movie production.

A huge thank you to the Maths Department, led by Ms Alexandra Stone, for this fantastic opportunity.
