Purcell Retains Royal Patronage

We were both honoured and delighted to announce earlier this week that His Majesty King Charles III will continue to act as Patron of The Purcell School.

As The former Prince of Wales, HM The King has acted as our Royal Patron since 1985 and, following a review of over one thousand patronages, we were thrilled that he has retained his support of our School. HM The King is well known for his love and support of music and the arts, and to receive such patronage acknowledges the vital and important contribution the School makes to the musical life of the nation and recognises the high quality of our work.

Our press release is available in full here.

Competition Triumphs for Purcell Composer

It is with great pleasure that we share further news of Year 12 composer Adi’s recent national and international competition successes.

Adi was awarded Festival Best Composer 2024 at the North London Festival of Music, Speech & Drama for the 1st movement, ‘Devotion’, of her original piece ‘A Quartet for What We Give’. During the competition, ‘Devotion’ was performed by Adi’s fellow Purcellians Antonia (Year 12), Isabella (Year 12), Tifany (Year 13) and Ivan (Year 13), with Rebecca (Year 12), Isabella (Year 12), Tifany (Year 13) and Ella (Year 12) playing in the awards concert.

Adi also triumphed in the prestigious International Composition Competition of the Vienna Classical Music Academy earlier this month, taking the Young Talent Prize with her composition for woodwind quintet, ‘The Quiet Before the Storm’.

Huge congratulations to Adi, who studies at Purcell under Slyvia Lim.
