Results for IGCSE English and English Literature were published today by the CIE examination board. All Purcell pupils in year 11 took an IGCSE in English (either as a first or second language qualification) and most took an IGCSE in Literature (English). Results in both subjects were strong, with 62% of pupils gaining either an A*or A in English, and 56% gaining either an A* or A in Literature (English). Six pupils from the cohort gained A* grades in both English and Literature.
Headmaster Stephen Yeo commented: “these are excellent results, and the fact that they are an improvement on last year’s strong results is a tribute to the pupils’ hard work and to the quality of teaching and learning in English at The Purcell.”
