On Friday 24th April, two Purcell School string quartets took part in the Royal Greenwich String Quartet Festival, organised by Trinity Laban Conservatoire.
They gave a concert with Trinity Laban students at St. Alfege’s Church in Greenwich, playing the first movement of Debussy‘s String Quartet Op. 10 (performed by Victoria Gill, Polly Scholte Sikorsky, Lucy Biddle and Nina Kiva), and the first movement of Brahms‘ Quartet No. 2 in A minor, Op. 51, No. 2 (performed by Ming Chak Chan, Juhee Yang, Russell Tan and Yong Jun Lee). To end the concert, our eight Purcellians joined together with the Trinity Laban String Orchestra, conducted by Nic Pendlebury to perform Janacek‘s Quartet No. 1 ‘Kreuzer Sonata’, arranged by Richard Tognetti.Charles Sewart, Head of Strings said ‘I would like to congratulate all eight players for their outstanding performances at this Festival’.
